The 16th Economic Summit of the Republic of Serbia was held on 17 and 18 October in Belgrade, with the main topic being how to “restart” the economy and pave the way to the European Union. At the Economic Summit, during the two-day session, there was talk about the global shift of power and its impact on the region, as well as about health, public administration, energy efficiency and the development of agriculture. The Summit was organized by the Greek TGI Group International in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

Bojan Žepinić, partner at TPA, was one of the participants in the panel on the initiation and development of business in Serbia. Speaking about entrepreneurship and business environment in Serbia, Žepinić said that, in addition to what the government can do, such as regulating the tax system, future entrepreneurs should have an idea and offer innovation to the market. “It is safe to invest here. No one will steal your money. If you put it in the bank, it will be in the bank. But what will happen, primarily depends on you as an entrepreneur, how much innovative you are”, said Žepinić. When it comes to what the government can do, Žepinić believes that there is a solid legal framework, and that there is no difference between our country and, for example Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

As Tanjug reports, the message of the panel was that Serbia has a solid legal framework for starting of your own business, as well as a good and educated labor force, but to be successful, she need to stop looking at what she is missing and to highlight and capitalize its resources.
